As a result of this, I am more interested than ever in supporting individual women and supporting women connecting in community. Something magic happens when women gather with the intention of genuinely supporting each other. In ancient cultures this was a normal part of life and I can see now how it brings strength and nurturing to women, and in a ripple effect, to their families and community.
Creating a space of safety and trust, it becomes possible to share joys and sorrows, fears and victories. Celebrating our journeys together deepens the meaning in our lives, valuing our feminine energy attends to something very important that our culture often lacks.
Being our authentic selves is true freedom. Being with other women who appreciate that is like drinking from a pure mountain stream. It is nourishing and relaxing and heartwarming.
Women are often so isolated, physically, socially, emotionally…. Most of us feel the pressure of competing in a world that is very male-dominated. Incidentally, this is not at all about a dislike of men. In fact I am sure that women connecting benefits their relationships with men (and children) and strengthens the whole community. Ultimately it supports the harmony of the relationship between humankind and the Earth.
I plan to start or join a women’s circle and I hope to encourage others to do the same. It doesn’t have to be complicated, simple is best. Maybe a shared interest or activity would help (for example; art therapy!). The main thing is to open that door and allow the possibility of a deeply nurturing environment to occur. If time is a barrier then I suggest seriously considering the benefits to all other relationships and areas of life (including health) that regular positive community can provide.
For me it’s about giving women a chance, actively respecting and honouring that which is feminine about ourselves. Discovering what feminine energy is all about. Enjoying it!
